My Shrine Project

DSCN0526 DSCN0527 There she is and just in time for this week’s theme at Inspiration Avenue, ‘Pocket full of Sunshine’

This shrine will be up for auction the first week of March.  Notice I didn’t wait til the last week of February to get it done!  I’m proud of myself for that…and the shrine turned out nicely too.  There is time if you want to participate in this great cause for children.  If not, I will be reminding you again when the auction opens, you have to at least visit and see the beautiful works of art.  I am in some very humbling company, some of the contributors have been idols of mine for years.  Can you tell I’m very excited about this project?

Shrine Project

I am about to begin my weekend marathon.  Being a dancer’s mom involves a lot of driving, and even more sitting around and waiting as they rehearse.  It’s just too far to go home and come back.  I wish I could bring my laptop along and get some work done, but I can never get service :(  I always bring a stack of books, although the lighting and the noise make reading challenging, even for me.

DSCN0514  The best of this bunch, for my purposes is the collection of stories by Lydia Davis.  Some of the stories are only a page long, but they are beautifully written and eerie in that I often have the same thoughts floating around my head, but would never share them.  I’m glad she is brave enough and wordsmith too.  I’m looking forward to a day when I can read The Lacuna.  That is a book that should be read without distraction, I think.

I hope everyone has a fan-tab-ulous weekend.  I think it may hit 40 here!  YAY!

Love and Hugs, Lisa

  6. Love the shrine, Lisa! Great post for the theme. (I get a feel of The Day of the Dead.)Interesting.
You are so busy, but it is for a good cause. A happy daughter. Maybe you can take colored pencils and do ACEOs? If you tire of reading.

  7. I can certainly see why your post was M.I.A. for a while. This intricate piece definitely took some time..but makes such a statement! The use of the doorway..was exceptional. Lisa, your work always gives me pause to think..taking my immediate worries completely away to another place. I truly appreciate every adventure.

Closing for now. Friend, it's truly your moment to shine! Blessing and joy, Terri

  8. Wow she came out beautiful!! I love the dual door effect, really fabulous. What a wonderful cause you've joined too, I hope it's a huge success and enjoy your weekend and short reads - I know you'd rather be online but sometimes it's good to get away from the black box. ;-)

  10. This is AMAZING, Lisa - so creative, colourful and intruiging. I love the doorway too, and also that you haven't used predominately yellows but this piece still feels so warm and is perfect for the theme. I'll certainly check out the auction too - great cause.
