Alphabet Letters Challenge

Today I am sharing a glimpse of my painting
for Maggie's Challenge at Inspiration Avenue.
I just finished adding words with my handy-dandy wood burner
to the table's edge.

I hope to finish this commission today.
It has been a 3 week journey,
the largest and most intricate panting I have ever done.

Please take a few minutes to visit Inspiration Avenue
this afternoon and view the whole art gallery.

  2. And by that same hair, I am visiting late this week. So, it was awesome that I was able to get here before Maggie got the completed entries up. What a magnificent entry. Please, please show the finished piece once it is ready to send to your client. Or possibly after the client has seen it. I love what I'm seeing!

  5. Wow Lisa, this is an amazing piece!

You always transmit such warmth, life and emotion into your work, especially in the faces and eyes. Soulful, vibrant and gorgeous! And the texture on the wall is a work of art all by itself :)

  11. This reminds me of the ancient icon paintings. I saw some in a museum at the weekend and noticed how a tool was used to indent into the surface of the gesso, something I'd like to try too. Great work!

  12. I have to say that this reminded me too of ancient paintings. Lisa, this has evolved so beautifully. I don't know why in the world you were punishing yourself, it is magnificent. Please make sure to get lots of really good photographs of this. It is so beautiful. Even though we all fully know this painting, you have added a bit of mystery to it with your beautiful style. Well done.

I have one question, I've seen it before in some of your other pieces, does the cross in the eye symbolize anything in particular? I love the touch it gives.
