Mornings with Mary- Day 9

Visions of Mary

Between December 9 and 12, 1531, Mary appeared several times to Juan Diego.
On February 11, 1854 Bernadette Soubirous had her first of eighteen visions of Mary.
Three young shepherds had six apparitions of  Mary of Fatima
 between May 13 and October 13, 1917.

Many, many people have had apparitions,
and whether a pope approves them or not,
I believe they are all real.

We wander through this life together in a semi-darkness in which none of us can distinguish exactly the features of his neighbor. Only from time to time,
through some experience that we have of our companion,
or through some remark that he passes,
he stands for a moment close to us,
as though illuminated by a flash of lightning.
Then we see him as he really is.

For me, that flash of light is God.
The God we are all a part of.
And Mary is a strong vessel of Love,
showing us what the world could be
if we let that light shine
constantly and brightly.
Surely that Love-Light can make shadows vanish.

Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.
                                   ~Jesus

Have a peaceful Sunday
full of Love,

Thank you Rebecca for bringing us all together.

  1. Beautiful shrine, Lisa.

And yes, even if no one believes us or approves of our visions of Mary, the visions are as real as you or I.

  5. No matter where she appears, approved or not, she is from the heart and the heart of Mary visiting us is always true. No bad comes from her. Love this, Priti.

you are the sharer of great light, the candle, the flame and the smoke that lifts our hearts upward.

  8. I believe in flashes of light too, you don't doubt because you 'know'and after the 'knowing' the light continues to shine through you.

Your beautiful daughter dancing in yesterday's Mary post, I remember the photograph you posted of her last year! Mother daughter relationships are precious treasures! x

  9. One thing that I'm discovering- that brilliant people of the past were in awe of Mary.

  10. Oh, I just remembered something the heaven-sent missionary told us at the Closing of our parish Mission. That the Devil is more afraid of Mary than her Son.

  12. Mary's hands are so often open and extended in works of art devoted to her. She seems to say, "Come. I'll wrap you in my embrace and protect you. You are not alone."

  18. I too, believe they are real. I have been visited also, by my child. And if she can come to me, then Mary can come to anyone in the world.
