Ode to Matisse

video
this is a very short slideshow
of my painting in progress.
In jeanne oliver's workshop
one of the assignments was to paint one of
henri matisse's paintings as your own
and document the progression with photos.

  1. You've captured the angles Lisa...I love how you've made this your own in every way. The addition of the heart in Marie's hands is your little "signature" which Jeanne said Matisse did -- added his signature bits in his work.

  2. What an interesting progression. I find that yours is much more appealing to the eye. Much softer and more feminine. I love that she is holding a heart, mine. :) xoxo

  4. Oh I hate to mimic what everyone has said, but I was thinking exactly that before I saw the comments! Love that she's holding a heart, and I also like yours better! Sorry, Henri. lol. I enjoyed watching the progression, what a good idea.

We are getting buried in (more) snow. It must be coming your way if it's not already there. :-( Springtime, where are you?!??

  6. What an interesting assignment. It must be a great workshop. Your finished piece does echo back to the Matisse but has your own recognizable style. Great!

  7. I know, I am playing that record, but everything said here is so true. I love yours better and the heart is so you. I am sure I could spot your stunning work anywhere. The progression was a nice take and yours turned out .... well as always... PRITI.
